John P. Whiteman III

John P. Whiteman III is a partner at Quatela Chimeri, PLLC, handling exclusively matrimonial and family law matters.

After spending close to 20 years practicing in those specialized areas at two different, well-established and respected firms in Nassau County, Mr. Whiteman joined Quatela Chimeri in 2023, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Firm and a reputation for being direct and candid with judges, attorneys, and clients.

Mr. Whiteman’s ability to draw on his psychology and business backgrounds and apply them to matrimonial and family law stands out, with him blending a compassionate approach and financial perspective to navigate the Firm’s clients through one of the most disruptive and challenging times in their lives. Above all else, Mr. Whiteman prides himself on his detail orientation and problem-solving skill sets, which he relies on to strategically and methodically move his cases to resolution, whether by way of negotiated settlement or judicial determination.

Mr. Whiteman is a graduate of Chaminade High School, Franklin & Marshall College, and Hofstra School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in New York State and is a trained mediator and fee dispute arbitrator. He was named as one of the Ten Leaders in Matrimonial and Divorce Law on Long Island for Age 45 & Under. He has been a member of the New York State Bar Association, New York Family Law American Inns of Law, Nassau County Bar Association (including its Matrimonial Law Committee) and Suffolk County Matrimonial Bar Association.

Mr. Whiteman has lectured for the Nassau County Bar Association, National Business Institute and Association of Divorce Financial Planners, and has written articles for the Nassau Lawyer and Matrimonial Strategist. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Courthouse Commons Homeowners Association.
