John J. Fellin is a Partner in the firm and concentrates his work in the areas of Matrimonial and Family Law. Mr. Fellin’s breadth and depth of experience in negotiating settlements in complex matters, coupled with his skills as a trial attorney, have yielded the highest levels of advocacy on behalf of his clients.
Named one of Long Island Business News’ “Leaders in Law” in 2019, John has dedicated his legal career to helping his clients navigate the difficult and often emotional issues and challenging family dynamics that invariably arise in both the dissolution of a marriage and in other family law proceedings. John is a highly skilled negotiator and experienced litigator who works closely and collaboratively with each client to identify their goals, develop strategies for achieving those goals, and then assisting them in efficiently and effectively meeting their objectives.
In each matter he handles, Mr. Fellin strives to resolve the issues in a manner which avoids costly, lengthy, and emotionally draining litigation. However, when settlement is not practical or even possible, he vigorously represents his clients and litigates the matter to obtain the best possible result in the courtroom or in the appellate court.
John’s range of representative clients includes high net worth individuals, public figures, entrepreneurs, corporate executives, professionals and business owners and their spouses. His experience and legal acumen are complemented by his partners and litigation team at the firm, with expertise in federal and state court practice, civil and commercial litigation, transactional and business matters, criminal defense, and appellate advocacy. These resources enable Mr. Fellin’s clients to receive representation tailored to each aspect of their case, along with the convenience of having one unified and informed firm representing their interests.
John’s expertise is frequently called upon as a lecturer before the Suffolk County Bar Association and other professional association, where he is a guest presenter and lecturer on family law matters attended by judges, seasoned practitioners, and law students alike.
John is also the President Elect of the Suffolk County Matrimonial Bar Association, having served a director since 2016, and is a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association’s Family Law Section. John is also an active and involved member of the Touro Law School community. John is an active member of the Suffolk County Bar Association, where he previously served as a co-chairperson of the Membership and Member Services Committee. In 2018, John was called upon by the judiciary to participate in the planning and development of the county’s mandatory matrimonial mediation pilot program.
